Front Adjustable Splitter The Virage utilizes an adjustable front splitter as developed on the MP93 Le Mans sportscar. This uses the air flowing under the car to generate downforce in the same was as the bottom of a single seater front wing. Extensive research and CFD analysis was carried out on the Virage and optimised the under-floor flow.The pitch of the splitter is adjustable allowing for front downforce refinement. 3rd Spring To complement the winged front splitter a third spring is used on the front suspension. This controls the front ride height in pitch only and has no effect in roll. The spring maintains front ride height though high aerodynamic loads, keeping the splitter at the optimum height. An adjustable gap allows for dynamic ride height tuning. This is another concept moved over from the Pilbeam Le Mans cars. Carbon Wing and Mounts Pilbeam supply a full carbon rear wing as standard. This was refined though CFD testing and has a variable angle along the span. The angle of incidence is increased where more downforce is required and reduced where not. This increases the overall efficiency of the wing improving downforce and reducing drag. Carbon Wing mounts have been developed to increase wing stiffness. These also reduce drag and are significantly lighter than aluminium versions. Adjustable Cooling NACA ducts, splitter angle and sidepods are adjustable to allow for heat dissipation tuning. These can increase temperatures for optimum running or reduce them on a hot day. Variable radiator flicks are also available for the Virage. Again extensive CFD research was carried out to give a range of cooling options without compromising performance. Suspension The Virage has dual wishbones with top specification swaged spherical bearings. Adjustable pushrods allow for quick ride height changes and are designed for load cells. The compact 2612 Koni dampers are used to reduce weight and packaging. Aluminium uprights mount the wheels and a tight fitting bearing reduces rolling resistance while hot.
