Pilbeam Racing’s Lotus Brake Bias Pedal Pilbeam’s Lotus Brake Bias kit has taken another leap forward in development with a second generation. The new box is lighter and cheaper, fitting both Series 1 and Series 2 Lotus. Several assemblies have already been supplied to Lotus Motorsport. The pedal is manufactured using 514 steel for dependability in strength and stiffness. This is lighter and stiffer than the original / rival aluminium extrusions. The front and rear brakes run on separate cylinders, coupled with an adjustable brake balance bar. A Lotus with our Pedal Box can now have brake bias fine tuned for both the driver and conditions. This greatly increases braking performance and allows latitude on fitting bigger brakes. Customers can specify specific size cylinders, or standard Lotus sizes can be supplied. To keep the box affordable both the original clutch and throttle can be kept. A compact right angled drive keeps the balance bar and cable connections compact. The cable adjuster option allows brake adjustment from a dash mounted adjuster. Either a generic or AP Racing dash fitting is available. Customers can keep their existing throttle pedal, or to replace it with Pilbeam’s ultra lightweight cable operated version. A throttle stop, avoids stretching or breaking of the throttle link and the original Lotus switch is utilised to activate the brake lights.
