John Forsyth - MP58/DFZ/R
21 years old and still going strong
(and that’s not the driver)
2009 was an interesting season mainly based on events in the south West of England with the occasional forays to the Midlands.
The Gurston Down Top 10 challenge was again contested but I was pipped to first place by a Gould GR37 which was driven by a driver some 25 years younger and with a package that weighed some 100kgs lighter. The good news was that I split the 2 drivers of the Gould in the final results and achieved a personal best, in the last meeting of the year; of 28.05 which if put into context of a 21 year ago time is a fairly good time.
The first National round at Gurston saw me miss qualifying in the wet by 2/100ths of a second and in the later National round qualify but not score any points. Not bad for 66! As usual Mick was at Gurston for the National and was very helpful with advice and tweaks.
Most of the rest of the season was in the west Country with several FTD's and 1st in class achieved.
A late season visit to Loton Park and Shelsley was very enjoyable and maybe next year we will be back.

My main objective for next season is to get into the 27 seconds at Gurston.
You cannot find a more forgiving car than a Pilbeam even at 21 years of age.
