Tomlin’s new MP97
Both Oliver and Sandra Tomlin will be entering in the club event at Harewood on the 9th May and then be competing in the Championship round the following day.
This is the second chassis of the latest specification of Hillclimb car, designated the MP97-02. The first chassis is currently raced by Jos Goodyear.
The MP97 is built off the rigidity of a carbon monocoque. With engines as powerful as F1 cars and greater aerodynamic freedom, the fastest way up a hill is in a Pilbeam. The car is powered by a Judd V8 EV and utilises a front and rear third spring as developed on the MP93 Le Mans Prototype car.
On Thursday the car was bought to Pilbeam’s workshops for a final check and setup before leaving for Harewood.
“I’m really impressed with the final presentation of the car” said Mike Pilbeam. “the paint job carefully selected by Sandra Tomlin is really striking.”
